Free Chess Puzzles & Tactics Trainer
Train tactics with free puzzles and no login. The trainer uses a level stored in your browser, the daily page chooses a position from the local date, and My Mistakes can turn selected errors from games in your local archive into private practice positions.
Three ways to train
- Daily puzzle — one position selected from your device’s local date, with a streak stored in that browser. Time-zone differences mean the date can change at different moments for different players.
- Adaptive trainer — 1,225 bundled puzzles; selection starts near your local trainer level, widens the range when needed, and prefers positions you have not yet attempted. This number is for puzzle matching, not an estimate of playing strength.
- My Mistakes — a short local engine check can save eligible mistake and blunder positions as one-move practice. The pattern summary describes that saved sample, not every error in every game. Your games are never uploaded for this check.
Learn the patterns, not just the answers
The bundled puzzles include theme tags such as fork, pin, skewer, mate and game phase, although not every position has a single named motif. Use the tactics guides to study the recurring patterns, then calculate the complete line in the trainer.
Are the chess puzzles free?Yes. The bundled trainer, daily position and locally generated mistake puzzles have no paywall or server-side quota, and need no account.
Can I get puzzles from my own games?Yes. “My Mistakes” checks saved games on your device and can keep eligible mistakes and blunders as practice positions.
Do the puzzles match my level?The trainer keeps a local matching level and starts its search near that number, widening the range when needed. Individual positions will still vary in difficulty.
